We have worked with expert clinicians to set up our new AFO Lab, specifically to produce custom and stock AFO’s. We can advise and guide you through every stage of the production process to help deliver the most appropriate device.

WHAT IS AN AFO?

AFOs or ‘Ankle Foot Orthoses’ are plastic splints which are made to keep feet and ankles in a good position for standing and walking. They may be

WHAT ARE AFOs PRESCRIBED FOR?

AFO’s are prescribed for a number of reasons:

• To realign and control the ankle and foot joints • To provide support to weakened joints or muscles • To stop or limit abnormal motion • To provide protection • To help control abnormal muscle tone

HOW ARE AFOs MADE?

Custom AFO’s are made via a cast of the patient’s foot. The casts will then be filled, cleaned and moulded by our technicians. Then they will be trimmed and finished using the highest quality materials. Our AFO’s as standard come with padding and 2 straps (if required) to meet you prescription. Different types of AFO are also available including GRAFO (Ground Reaction Ankle Foot Orthoses) and DAFO (Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthoses).
